Charlie Hancock has been named Learning Skills Partnership’s June Apprentice of the Month! Up against strong competition from apprentices in numerous occupations.
Charlie has been with EDA Apprenticeships Plus for a year and as you can see from below he is a deserved winner!
Charlie has made exceptional progress throughout his apprenticeship and is now performing at the level of a confident, capable internal sales professional. He has a couple of months left before EPA. Over the past few months, he has developed rapidly in both skill and maturity, and his impact on the business is clear.
He now manages around 20 allocated customer accounts, which is a significant achievement for an apprentice. As Brad explained, “not a lot of apprentices get accounts allocated to them within a year… he’s built good relationships, so it’s good to be able to allocate them to him.” Charlie has strengthened these relationships to the point where customers now contact him directly via WhatsApp for quotes, orders and pricing. He said himself, “they just drop me a message or give me a call if they need anything.”
Charlie has also delivered impressive sales results. He achieved his personal goal of £10,000 profit in a single month and recently quoted a £12.5k floodlighting order for a customer the branch is trying to win. Brad highlighted the significance of this, noting that “for someone that’s been in the office for as long as Charlie has, it’s quite an achievement really.”
His academic progress has matched his workplace performance. He recently completed the EDA Principles of Electricity workbook, achieving a distinction. Charlie achieved distinction-level results in both his mock knowledge test (26/30) and his Module C workbook. He has applied this learning directly to his role, becoming more confident in using selling techniques, features and benefits, and promotional conversations. Brad confirmed this development clearly: “He’s definitely become more confident… able to turn the conversation the way he wants it to… to direct them towards promotions or add on sales.”
Charlie’s work ethic is consistently strong. He keeps his workload up to date, manages tasks effectively, and maintains an excellent standard of professionalism. Brad commented that there are “no issues with attendance or professionalism” and praised his ability to learn systems quickly and communicate well with customers.
Looking ahead, Charlie has a promising future. Brad confirmed that Charlie can work towards opportunities such as “internal sales for a year and then account manager.” Charlie himself said that if offered a place, “I’ll definitely stay.”
Charlie has shown outstanding development, strong commercial impact, and a level of professionalism well beyond his time in the role. He is a highly deserving candidate for LSP’s Apprentice of the Month.
